Shortlist announced for Sydney Olympic Park metro projectJuly 14, 2025Sydney metro has shortlisted three consortia to deliver an integrated station and precinct development at Sydney Olympic Park. The project will involve the design and construction of the new metro station, the adjacent precinct, and two surrounding buildings.Once complete, the Sydney Olympic Park station will become a key part of the citys expanding transport network. It is expected to support the movement of over 10 million people annually, enhancing access to Australias leading events, sports, and entertainment precincts.Designed to support seamless interchanges with multiple transport modes including the future Parramatta Light rail, the existing T7 Olympic Park line, local buses, and active transport the station is set to become a highly connected mobility hub. A 15-minute direct service to Hunter Street in Sydney CBD will make it more accessible than ever.In response to peak demand during major events, the new station will feature platform doors on both sides of the train, allowing simultaneous boarding and disembarking to accommodate large crowds efficiently.The development aims to revitalise Sydney Olympic Park as a dynamic destination where people can live, work, and visit. It will include vibrant public spaces, new dining and retail options to bolster the night-time economy, and approximately 300 new homes, contributing to the NSW Governments efforts to expand housing supply.In addition to the main precinct development, plans are being progressed to amend current approvals and enable the construction of around 190 extra residential units directly above the metro station.The three shortlisted consortia invited to tender for the Sydney Olympic Park Integrated Station Development Precinct contract are:FCC and Ecove: comprising FCC Construction Australia Pty Ltd and Ecove Group Pty LtdGamuda and MTR: comprising Gamuda Engineering Pty Ltd, Gamuda (Australia) Pty Ltd and MTR Corporation (Australia) Pty LtdJohn Holland and Freecity: comprising John Holland Pty Ltd and Freecity Group Holdings Pty LtdThe contract award is expected in mid-2026.Share on:RECOMMENDED EVENT:
